Open Positions

Position

The Research Associate position is a dynamic role that allows you to use your scientific and technical skills in the lab to develop novel product applications using Cell Microsystems’ proprietary technology and consumables.  This position is ideal for a scientifically curious and flexible individual looking to develop assays in a wide range of subject areas.  

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  •  Lab-based position focused on generating use-case data, application notes, and protocols for a variety of cell-based assay workflows (stem cells, gene-editing, 3D culture etc.)
  •  Work independently and as part of a cross functional team and support product applications in the field and as in-house R&D 
  • Communicate with users to enhance their experience, troubleshoot technical issues, and work towards protocol optimization
  • Requirements:
  • Experience with cell culture and cell-based assay development (stem cell or 3D cell experience is preferred)
  • Hands on experience with molecular biology techniques including DNA, RNA, and protein isolation, cellular biology methods (CRISPR gene editing, transfections, immunofluorescence), and analytical testing (i.e. ELISA, Western blot, qPCR)
  • Experience with fluorescence-based microscopy and image analysis
  • Experience with next generation sequencing is desirable but not required
  • Familiarity with biological material and safety protocols
  • Ability to work independently and on an interdisciplinary team
  • Exemplary organization, protocol writing, and data analysis skills
  • Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot
  • Must be able to work in US

Education:

  • B.S. with +2 years research experience in cell biology, immunology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or related field
  • M.S. with + 1 years research experience in cell biology, immunology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or related field

Position

Reporting functionally to the Head of Software and Systems Engineering, the Software & Systems Engineer is responsible for serving as a member of the Cell Microsystems team to achieve milestones in the key areas of software development, validation, and systems integration for all automated platforms.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

The Software & Systems Engineer will collaborate in the areas of product design, development, installation, quality assurance and quality control, troubleshooting and integration of software developed for automated platforms. Programming tasks will include creation of graphical user interfaces using WPF and WinForms, development and testing of image processing algorithms using OpenCV (Emgu wrapper), and machine control including image capture using vendor SDKs.

  • Contribute to the design, implementation, and validation testing for software products installed on automated platforms
  • Contribute to integration and installation of software products
  • Draft and optimize protocols for software validation
  • Assist in quality assurance and quality control of software products

 

Support for Customer and Partner Relations

The Software & Systems Engineer supports the Company’s relations with customers and partners.

  • Direct communication with customers regarding performance and troubleshooting of software products and related components
  • Assist in the creation of scientific, technical, and marketing materials to distribute to potential customers

 

 Research and Development of Software Products and Systems Integration

The Software & Systems Engineer will collaborate in the research and development regarding existing and new software products and systems integration. 

  • Contribute to the design, research, and development of both existing and new software products and integrated computational and imaging hardware
  • Collaborate with other team members in the preparation and implementation of grants for research and development funding opportunities

 

Candidate Requirements

  • B.S. in computer science or computer engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of programming experience required in .Net environment using C#, C/C++, VB with emphasis on desktop applications using WPF or WinForms
  • Image processing experience with OpenCV, MATLAB, and/or other data analysis software package
  • Proficiency with relational database design and implementation using SQLite or equivalent
  • Ability to quickly understand and contribute to existing applications
  • Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated technical writing skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Some travel required
  • Must be able to work in the U.S.
