Cell Microsystems and QIAGEN have partnered to bring the CellRaft Technology to single cell researchers worldwide. Based on Cell Microsystems’ proprietary technology, the QIAscout from QIAGEN is a new version of the CellRaft System.
What is the nature of the relationship between QIAGEN and Cell Microsystems?
Cell Microsystems has partnered with QIAGEN to commercially launch the QIAscout System. The Kit will contain a new version of the release device, a magnetic wand, and a collection plate. QIAGEN will also sell the 200×200 micron single reservoir CellRaft Array under the name of the QIAscout Array, and five QIAscout Arrays will be contained in the Kit. QIAGEN will handle all pre-sales, sales, technical support of the product, customer care, and integration into QIAGEN’s quality system for the QIAscout System.
Cell Microsystems will continue to provide to participants in our Early Adopter Program innovative improvements and new products for single cell isolation, recovery, and analysis. And, we will work with QIAGEN to bring those innovations to laboratories worldwide. This will ensure that everyone who wants to do single cell analysis can do so with a straightforward, cost-effective tool.
Cell Microsystems will also continue to offer custom fabrication services to provide unique array products through its Early Adopter Program. If you need custom fabricated CellRaft Arrays feel free to contact Cell Microsystems directly.
Who should I call if I have technical support questions?
You should contact QIAGEN with questions about the QIAscout product line. QIAGEN technical service and customer satisfaction staff has been trained according to QIAGEN’s quality system processes for newly launched products. You can contact QIAGEN representatives at 1-800-DNA-PREP. It is important to contact QIAGEN first as they can enter your questions or inquiries into their customer relations management software for tracking, escalation, and dispatching purposes. QIAGEN will be manufacturing the arrays, and will therefore be best able to help troubleshoot more effectively.
Will QIAscout Arrays I order from QIAGEN work with other components of the CellRaft System that I purchased from Cell Microsystems?
Yes, the Cell Microsystems release device will work with QIAscout Arrays. Magnetic transfer wands and magnetic collection plates purchased from Cell Microsystems can also be used with the isolation and recovery of single cells from QIAscout Arrays. However, the design for the release device in the QIAscout System differs from the CellRaft release device and the parts from Cell Microsystems, such as needle windows and control boxes, are not interchangeable.
Do I have to re-optimize my cell seeding and isolation protocols on the new QIAscout arrays?
No. Users should not encounter differences between how they have used the CellRaft Array and the use of the QIAscout Array. The QIAscout Array products are made of the same materials and designs as the CellRaft Array, so a user’s protocols for cell plating, isolation, and recovery should be the same for both QIAscout Arrays and CellRaft Arrays. If you have problems with QIAGEN-supplied arrays, contact QIAGEN’s technical support team for assistance.
Are there any new products coming out from Cell Microsystems?
Of course! We are working on a couple cool new products that we’ll be eager to share in the coming months. First, we are working on the Automated Isolation and Retrieval or AIR™ System – the automated version of the CellRaft System. We’re also working on some new high-resolution CellRaft Arrays with dramatically improved optical imaging capabilities. Those new products will be available directly from Cell Microsystems in early 2017 through our Early Adopter Program.
