Publication: Counteracting Bacterial Motility: A Promising Strategy to Narrow Listeria monocytogenes Biofilm in Food Processing Industry

Numerous epidemics of listeriosis caused by Listeria monocytogenes (L. monocytogenes), a Gram-positive foodborne pathogen, have occurred in industrialized countries. Researchers in this investigation used a BioFlux shear flow system to analyze the effectiveness of antibiotic molecules on biofilms under dynamic conditions. Using a BioFlux, the group was able to observe reductions in biofilm growth area and thickness. The results highlighted the critical role of motility in biofilm formation.
