Publication: Simulation and Modeling of the Adhesion of Staphylococcus aureus onto Inert Surfaces under Fluid Shear Stress

A BioFlux Shear Flow System with glass bottom plates was used by Shaikh et al. to investigate the effects of shear stress on the adhesion of Staphylococcus aureus. The group developed a predictive program that was verified using the BioFlux system. They found that their COMSOL program accurately predicted higher rates of bacterial adhesion with decreasing shear stress but did not accurately predict p[plateauing over time.
