Publication: Platelet adhesion and aggregate formation controlled by immobilised and soluble VWF

Understanding von Willebrand factor (vWF) function involves the physical aspects of hydrodynamics and structural conformations and physiological aspects ranging from the underlying molecular biology to its functional characteristics and clinical impact. In this study, a BioFlux shear flow system was used to examine the interaction between washed platelets and vWF. The authors used the results from BioFlux experiments to determine that macroscopic functional properties of platelets cannot be singularly assessed.
