Publication: Slit2 Prevents Neutrophil Recruitment and Renal Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury

Acute kidney injury develops in 5% of hospitalized patients and leads to significant morbidity, mortality, and financial costs. In this investigation, the authors leveraged a BioFlux shear flow system to image and quantify neutrophil adhesion to TNF-α activated HUVECs to simulate ischemia-reperfusion injury. It was found that Slit2 reduced neutrophil infiltration without impairment of their protective functions.
